Clinical Trials 2021: National Tribute and Award Ceremony

The Australian Clinical Trials Alliance, together with our event partners, hosted the 2021 National Tribute and Award Ceremony on May 20th 2021 to mark International Clinical Trials Day and celebrate the announcement of the ACTA Trial of the Year Awards.

Thank you for joining us in honouring the remarkable Australians who advance our health system by designing, conducting, or participating in ground-breaking clinical trials and promote the importance of clinical trials and the expertise and complexity of the work involved.

The ACTA Trial of the Year Award was established in 2016 to honour and celebrate the outstanding Australian achievements that advance clinical practice and save or improve the lives of patients every year through collaborative, multicentre, investigator-driven clinical trials.

The award categories were as follows:

  • ACTA Trial of the Year Award
  • ACTA STInG Excellence in Trial Statistics Award
  • ACTA Consumer Involvement Award

In 2021, the nominees were of such high quality, the two equal winners of Trial of the Year were awarded. On behalf of all members of the ACTA Community, we extend our congratulations to the many thousands of people – clinicians, researchers and participants – who were involved in the outstanding trials honoured during the 2021 ACTA Trial of the Year Awards. Full detail on the awards, winners and finalists can be found here: Clinical Trials 2021: National Tribute and Award Ceremony.

MTPConnect launch of the ‘Clinical Trials in Australia’ report

The Award Ceremony was preceded by the launch of the ‘Clinical Trials in Australia’ report hosted by MTPConnect from 3:00pm-4:00pm. To mark the report launch, MTPConnect hosted a panel session - “Clinical Trials in Australia: opportunities for growth” - with sector experts to coincide with its support of ACTA’s National Tribute and Award Ceremony. This new report follows a comprehensive sector profile published by MTPConnect in 2017 – both serve as important resources for the sector. Both reports are available here.
