Following an extensive recruitment process, ACTA Chair Prof Steve Webb, is excited to announce the appointment of ACTA’s new CEO, Dr Stewart Hay. Stewart will be joining the ACTA team from Thursday 21 April 2022.

“This is an exciting new chapter for ACTA’s story”, said Steve.

“We have had significant growth in our capabilities over the last five years and as we dive further into our new MRFF grant commitments, Stewart’s arrival couldn’t be at a more prominent and important time”.

Stewart brings a wealth of sector and professional experience to the role. He has over 20 years’ experience in the research and development of health technologies including his role as the CEO of Therapeutic Innovation Australia. He has also provided significant contributions into the inception and development of national capability networks, international collaborations and product development.

“As a member-based organisation, we see Stewart’s arrival as an opportunity to connect more with our valued members and indeed expand our reach and impact even further across the sector. We believe his extensive professional experience and shared personal commitment to better health outcomes will be a tremendous asset to ACTA, our members and indeed the sector”, said Steve.

Stewart shared, “I am looking forward to this tremendous opportunity in leading ACTA into its next phase”.

“ACTA is already widely known for its strategic, practical and capacity building work and I am thrilled not only to be a part of ensuring these great outcomes continue but also to play a role in the expansion of its impact for the benefit of our colleagues across the sector”, said Stewart.

The ACTA Board also pass on their deep thanks to Ms Victoria Potarina from Chrysalis Advisory who has expertly acted in the interim CEO role since December 2021. The Board and the ACTA central team are immensely grateful for Vika’s guidance through this transition period and we look forward to continuing to work with her and the Chrysalis team into the future.

One of Stewart’s first priorities will be to reach out to all members to gain a deeper understanding of ACTA’s role and opportunities for the future and he looks forward to doing this soon after he commences.

Welcome to the ACTA team Stewart!
