The Gala Dinner on Friday 5 October was held at the gorgeous Doltone House on Sydney’s Darling Island. Guests gathered for the key social event of the Conference to take in the waterfront views and network with Conference delegates and faculty.

Gold Walkley recipient and host of the ABC’s Health Report, Dr Norman Swan entertained the crowd at Doltone House as he related his experiences as a doctor and in the media, including a period on the TV show The Biggest Loser. He reminisced about being moved to tears by the stories and struggles of the contestants—right before being asked to bring the tears and reshoot from another angle.

After Dr Swan’s talk, Conference Convenor and founding member of ACTA, Professor Anthony Keech announced awards for best moderated poster presentations.
