A practical guide to investigator-led platform trials in Australia
Presented by Dr Julie Marsh
Platform trials are the hot topic in clinical trial circles but not all studies are suitable for these innovative designs. Without the resources of a pharmaceutical company, Australian trialists have long consultation and planning processes to undertake before they are even ready to apply for funding. This presentation discusses the importance of getting the stakeholders on-board and the use of historical data and/or expert elicitation in the trial design process. It considers ways we can use simplified trial simulators and decision thresholds for success and futility to secure funding, and even contemplates the impossible – handing back some of the funding if the trial stops early for futility.
